It’s a Wrap!

NCCT’08 is in the can. This was the first time our congregation had hosted a conference on this scale, and the reviews from our guests have been overwhelmingly positive. As the director of the conference, this has been very gratifying.

A large number of people from our church family, and even a few who are part of other area churches, came together to serve those who attended the conference, and I could not have been more proud, in a good way, of all that was done to make our guests feel welcomed. The gifts, talents, and dedication of so many contributed to making the conference run smoothly.

The teaching was also excellent. I’ll have more to say on that in the next few days, but know that I’m back now, somewhat rested from the exhaustion that resulted from the four-day push through the conference, and excited to enjoy a bit of time soaking in this year’s conference before our team gets started with the detailed planning for NCCT’09.

Did I mention that we have commitments from both John MacArthur and Bruce Ware for NCCT’09?

On the NCCT conference in Nashville:
This was the inaugural event, hosted by Community Bible Church of Nashville, TN.  The vision and passion of Sr. Pastor Byron Yawn, it was an offering of energized, passionate preaching of the Word, brought by Dr. D.A. (The Don) Carson and Dr. Steve Lawson, and well-known blogger Tim Challies.  This attendee’s highlights were Dr. Lawson’s “Bring the Book” from Neh. 8:1-8 where he outlined the Call for, Characteristics of, and Consequences of Biblical preaching.  I don’t know how the podium survived!  And Dr. Carson’s “We Preach Christ Crucified” from 1 Cor. 15:1-19, which spotlighted the Christological, Theological, and Historical aspects (among others) of the gospel.  “The gospel must contain the sense of the heinous offense sin is to a Holy God!”
The detail-oriented, very friendly volunteer staff, led by Conference director Doug Selph, left no stone unturned.  This was an effective “recharge” for area pastors and lay folk, right down to the always-available free cookies and beverages.
It was amazing first effort.  Congrats to CBC Nashville for such a well-orchestrated, collective effort.  Looking forward to MacArthur and Ware next year!
Blessed be the Name of the Lord!!

Doug,

Praise God and thanks to you and all the volunteer participants.  What a symbolic example of a bunch of body parts working in amazing harmony and fruitfulness!

It was a very blessed “first annual”, which if someone had not known it was a first effort, they would have never guessed.  Whatever other gifts you have, conference organizing is sure one of them.

Blessings,
Terry

Thank you Terry and Danny for the encouragement. It was a blessing to be able to serve the church in this way, and I perhaps have benefitted more than any other.

Doug
