Underway indeed

I can think of no better way to begin a blog named ReformationUnderway than with a quote from Martin Luther.

I opposed indulgences and all papists, but never by force. I simply taught, preached, wrote God's Word: otherwise I did nothing. And then, while I slept or drank Wittenberg beer with my Philip of Amsdorf the Word so greatly weakened the papacy that never a prince or emperor did such damage to it. I did nothing: the Word did it all. (from Luther's Table Talk)

This sentiment is the reason that the tag line for this blog ("Luther started it...") is tongue-in-cheek. Luther was the human agent, but the real actor in lighting the fire of the Reformation was our sovereign God. It is our fervent prayer that the Reformation will truly continue to be underway in our midst, that the body of Christ will ever be more closely conformed to His likeness.
